Chris Daniels is now playing in Jakarta, Indonesia, with the Indonesia Warriors (sometimes called by the team's former name, Satria Muda) of the ASEAN Basketball League.
Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia, with a population of over 10 million residents. ASEAN is the association of southeast nations, a group of ten countries in southeast Asia. Besides Indonesia, ASEAN includes the countries of Singapore, Thailand, the Phillipines and Vietnam, to name a few.
Daniels lines up next to a familiar face on Indonesia's front line. Former UGA hoops teammate Steve Thomas starts for the Warriors at center.
Daniels Arrives
Chris went right to work for the Warriors. He is averaging 14 points per game through 9 contests.
If UGA fans have time and want to see Daniels and Thomas play, the Warriors' game against the Singapore Slingers is linked below.

Steve Thomas Tenure in Venezuela Ends
Steve Thomas reported to the La Guira Bucaneros just a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, his stay there did not turn out the way that he probably hoped.
As readers of the Blog may remember, Thomas has played in the CBA, the Phillipines and Korea, among other stops. For more information on Thomas, click on his name in hypertext at the end of this article.
La Guira (alternatively spelled, "La Guaira") is the principal port of Venezuela, located just about an hour away from the capital of Caracas. Although baseball and soccer have the largest following in Venezuela, basketball has gained some in popularity. Los Bucaneros got their basketball franchise two years ago and they are looking to move up in the Liga Professional de Baloncesto (LPB), the Venezuelan professional basketball league.
It appeared at first that Thomas might have a long tenure with the Bucaneros, since the team was looking for a physical center to patrol the paint. However, the coach of the Bucaneros decided to let Steve Thomas go earlier this month. According to some sources, the team felt that Thomas had a hidden injury and didn't have the explosiveness that was expected.
If Thomas is injured, here's hoping it's a temporary set-back and that he can use his time back in the States to recover. We'll see what Steve decides to do with his basketball career.

Steve Thomas scores 19.
Good game for Steve over in South Korea. He had 19 points and 8 rebounds, 6 of them on the offensive glass. He shot 8 of 13 from the field, and 3 of 4 from the line. Even got 2 assists.
Bad result for Steve's team, the Magic Wings. They lost to Dongbu Promy by almost 30. The final score was 102 to 74. The Magic Wings are not very good.
Maybe Steve will make it back to the States and the NBA. The Hawks could use a tough big man with good shooting skills. A tad undersized for the center spot, but I could still see him giving Al Horford a break, on occasion.

Steve Thomas in Korea
Steve Thomas has moved around a bit since he left Georgia.
After the transition from Harrick to Felton, Thomas transferred to Middle Tennessee State and finished his college career. Since then, Thomas has had stints in the CBA and playing internationally (click on Steve's name to see earlier article for details).
Thomas just recently left the Phillipines and the AirExpress squad and is now playing in Korea.
Thomas
My Korean is a little bit rusty (ha), but I can tell you that his number is 55 and his nickname is "Pooh."
Thomas' team, the MagicWings, are 0 and 5 this season. Steve should be able to help them out with his physical play around the basket.
I'll continue to follow Thomas as he plays in the Korean League, but this will take some work.

Where Are They Now? Steve Thomas
Steve Thomas arrived at UGA in 2000 and played until his junior year, 2002-2003. During that season, Thomas averaged 10.2 pts per game and 7.3 rebounds.
Coach Jim Harrick left UGA in 2003, and shortly after the transition to Coach Felton, Thomas was dismissed. Thomas sat out one year and returned to action for the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders during the 2004-2005 season, where he averaged 10.5 pts and 7.5 rebounds.
Thomas played overseas in Poland, and was named one of the Polish League All-stars. He was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2006. After a brief stint with the Atlanta Krunk, Thomas signed in February 2008 with the East Kentucky Miners. Thomas led the CBA in both rebounding (11.5 per game) and field goal percentage (62.5%).
Thomas is now playing overseas in the Philippines for the Air21 Express.
Although the music is bad, I felt some readers who remember Steve might appreciate seeing a youtube video featuring clips of his recent play.
