It really has been fun to watch the career of Sundiata Gaines unfold. Joining a young Dawgs' team, leaving New York, playing through the tough years as Georgia recovered from NCAA sanctions. Worst to first run in the SEC Tourney. He and Dave Bliss were just hard ballers, battling through injuries and setbacks, all the while representing UGA well on and off the court.
Undrafted, Gaines went to Italy to play, then to the D-League, and on to the NBA. Since his short stint with the Utah Jazz, he has played in the NBA summer league, and now he is back in New York, constantly working on his game and maintaining his toughness.
Nice write-up with a few quotes (New York Post article).
