Gaines to Hawks Mini-Camp

Well, I said in today's earlier post that Gaines was pushing some NBA scout to bring him in, and lo and behold, the guy gets an invite to the Hawks mini-camp.

Amazing.

Great for Gaines. Hopefully, he'll get a chance to show what he can do. Some team needs a gritty team player like Gaines. No disrespect, but he can do at least as well as some of the point guards that have been on the Hawks roster previously.

Congratulations, Yata!

Sundiata Gaines Tears Up Pro Am

In the most recent game, Yata went for 35 points with 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

And in the most incredible news, he shot 16 of 18 from the free throw line. He has stepped up his game and is telling some NBA scout to come check him out.

Three Basketeers

Does Georgia have a shot at Royal, Scott and Parker?

If the guys want to play together, I think Fox should push to make it happen.

Knicks kick off Summer League Play

Rashaad Singleton did not see the floor.

I assume that the Knicks would not have him on the team if they didn't want him to play. However, I'm sure the team wants to see what they have in their draftees first.

Player Analysis

from the Peach Jam.

Scout.com gives a rundown on the players who stood out at the Peach Jam. I don't see any UGA targets on the list. Still, it's good to know who's out there.

Peach Jam

Justin Young, formerly of Rivals, comments about the impact that the rules changes have had on scouting players in general, and the Peach Jam, in particular.

I understand that Mark Fox is there. Hopefully he is seeing and being seen, and UGA will have a real chance to get talent in the 2010 and 2011 classes.

U.S.A.! U.S.A!

The U.S. Under-19 squad won the gold medal, edging Greece 88 to 80. The U.S. hadn't won the tournament title since 1991.

Howard Thompkins had foul trouble during the game and only played 11 minutes. He went 3 of 6 from the field.

For the tournament, Thompkins shot 55 percent from the floor and averaged 5 rebounds.

Fantastic experience for Thompkins. Congratulations to him and to the whole U.S. team.
