Idaho falls to Utah in Overtime

Sundiata Gaines scored 31 points for Idaho on 13 of 24 shooting. It wasn't enough, though, as Utah won 112 to 109.

I was going to say that Gaines is shooting the ball too much from his point guard position for his team to run efficiently, but anytime you're makin 'em at a rate of over 50 percent, it's hard to argue with the production. He also had 7 assists and 4 boards.

Hard to blame a scoring point, which Sundiata always was, if you don't know what kind of scoring options he has with him on the wing.

Yep. I was thinking that 24 shots was a lot, even in overtime, for your point guard, but I remembered that one of Idaho's main scoring threats was called up by the Portland Trailblazers.

Sundiata probably has to do a lot with the ball to get his team in position to win. Sounded very familiar, in fact, to his tenure with Georgia.

Hopefully, he can end up as an Andre Miller-type player in the pro's. Not the fastest, not the biggest, but a guy who will defend and score just enough for an NBA squad that needs production.
