End of the Road for Charles Grant

Charles Grant's tenure as a New Orleans Saint officially ended today.

Grant has been troubled by problems on and off the field. He suffered a torn triceps this year and did not play in the Superbowl. Grant also faced earlier in the 2009/20010 season an investigation by the NFL regarding use of particular substances. And then there are the charges related to a fight in a Georgia bar.

Will Grant get picked up by any other teams? Hard to say.

Charles Grant Likely on the Way Out for the Saints

I agree with the beat writer in this instance. If you have a guy who is on injured reserve, you have to ask the question whether he can recover and help the team.

If the player on IR makes a ton of money, the question is asked again.

IR, ton of money, and long in the tooth, then the question is asked with a lot more urgency.

IR, ton of money, long in the tooth, and very serious legal problems off the field, the kind that can make the whole franchise look bad, then some in New Orleans believe that the question has been answered.

Charles Grant Out for the Remainder of Season

Grant suffered a torn triceps injury during the Saints' game Sunday against Charlotte.

I'm sure it's a disappointment for him, after working so hard to help New Orleans achieve their turn-around season. Based on what happened with Grant's previous surgery, it sounds like he should be back on the field in plenty of time to start the season next year.

Charles Grant Not Home-Free Just Yet

The NFL is still pursuing its options, not giving up in its fight to suspend players for violating the prohibited substances rules.

According to the attached article, Grant will likely be able to play the entire season before the federal appeals process is finalized.

Charles Grant Avoids Suspension

The League decides that since the discipline could not be applied to other players because of state law, then in the interest of evenhanded application of the rules, Grant and his teammate would not be suspended either.

Charles Grant to Play in First Game

The NFL has announced that the 4-game ban against Charles Grant will not be enforced during the first game.

Grant, who is currently playing for the New Orleans Saints, reportedly took a banned substance. If memory serves me, the substance, which can mask the presence of steroids, was not listed on the ingredients of the weight-loss product which Grant took.

The whole situation has become part of a legal case against the NFL, and the NFL may be reviewing the impact of any of its decision on the court proceedings.
