Georgia lost for the first time ever to Wofford. They played with a lot of poise and hit their free throws. We can't seem to shoot the ball.
1. Free throw shooting drills
Bring in Mark Price. Do something. Dustin Ware should be money late in the games. Chris Barnes needs to hit at least 6 or 7 out of 10.
2. Reduce Turnovers
Too many easy give-aways. Tennessee will absolutely kill us if we are this careless with the ball.
3. Recruit
I'm not ready to give up on this year, but it's hard to ignore the obvious. Travis Leslie and Howard Thompkins are players. If we can get a couple of others like them, even if it takes until next year, we ought to make it a priority.
Initially, I thought we needed a center most of all. Someone to replace Albert Jackson when he graduates. Now the obvious answer is that a center is down somewhere on our list of recruiting priorities.
We need a shooter. I don't know who's left on the board, but since we missed out on the Georgia talent this year, we should scour the world until we find a big shooting guard.
4. Bring on Marlon Brown
If Brown only has a few catches this late in the season, then he's not going to be used much for football. On the other hand, he is a big two-guard, a tough physical basketball player, and someone who could definitely help our hoops squad. In my opinion, as soon as football is over, Fox ought to be over at Richt's office, asking that Brown put sneaks on for the remainder of the basketball season.

Football Recruiting
As I back-fill football-related information onto the Blog, I thought it would be good to add this link to the AJC.
The link features information about UGA's football signees for this upcoming season.

Marlon Brown Coming Back to UGA
Boy, I really hope that Felton and Richt can pull in Marlon Brown from Tennessee. The guy has serious basketball skills, and he would give our 2009 signing class a great boost.
Rivals did an article on Brown, and they indicate that he visited Coach Felton back earlier this month. I thought that Brown had decided that he was going to stick to just football, but by visiting Coach Felton, he is apparently stating that he still wants to do both. Hopefully, he showed up for the Virginia Tech game.
Since Brown is coming back on Saturday for an official visit, my thought would be that he wants to take in the basketball game. The Dawgs are playing Wofford, and UGA should play well. No guarantee, but if we needed some extra incentive to win the game, Brown's visit would suffice.
Securing a football commitment from Brown would give Georgia's basketball Dawgs a great all-around player, without costing the team a scholarship. He's a reliable outside shooter, a tough defender, and he finishes with either hand in the paint. Not a point guard, but handles the ball well enough to help bring it up the floor. Explosive leaper who would only get better as his body matures.
Let's reel him in.
What can Brown do for UGA? Hopefully, sign, and play two sports!

Okay, I'm Convinced
Marlon Brown looks like UGA's starting 2-guard of the future.
Marlon Brown is a 6' 5" guard out of Harding Prep in Memphis. He has a 3.2 gpa and a 21 ACT score. He has visited UGA for football, and wants to return to take in a basketball game. He wants to play both sports at UGA.
I say, fine. Let him. He is the #2-ranked wide receiver in the country. Mark Richt wants to sign two wide receivers next year. I understand that Brown visited UGA for the Alabama football game and met with the basketball coaches at that time. Great. Felton and Richt are working together, apparently.
It works out great for basketball, too, since Brown's scholarship, should he come to Georgia and opt to play both sports, would not count against basketball's 13 scholarship limit.
And the dude can play. State Basketball Tournament MVP. A finalist for Mr. Tennessee Basketball. He averaged 16 points and 7 rebounds per game. But the sky is the limit for this guy. Watch the fundamentals in the clip.
Marlon Brown
I thought the guy was left-handed at first. He has the spin moves, the leaping ability, the size, blocks shots with his off-hand. Sets up well for his shot. Nice rotation. Has the athleticism to finish above the rim. Would almost certainly increase his vertical big-time with a year of college strength training.
Let's sign this guy.
