Westchester defeated Newark Memorial last night 63 to 56 to win its second consecutive state of California Division I high school championship.
Westchester finished the year with a 32 and 3 record. Besides the state championship, the Comets also notched victories over nationally ranked teams such as Oak Hill of Virginia and Mater Dei of California.
Dwayne Polee picked up two quick fouls in the first quarter. He came back in the second quarter and scored on two dunks, but was called for his third foul right after the second half began.
Polee ended up with 7 points and 6 rebounds.
UNLV or Georgia? I thought Georgia was leading, but he has made some favorable remarks about UNLV, and it's a lot closer to home. I wouldn't count Fox out, though. Sure would be fun to see Leslie and Polee on the fast break.

I have always wondered what happened with Polee, SR at UNLV?
He went there for 1 year, then transferred to Pepperdine. Thought there might have been something that happened there that would make Polee, JR look elsewhere. Guess not.
Have no idea. In any case, Polee Sr. is letting his son make the decision.
If you've been reading the Blog, I guess you have seen the comments Polee has made about UNLV. If not, you can do a search on Polee's name or even UNLV (enter the search criteria in the upper left-hand corner of the blog) and find more information.
Since Fox has been recruiting Polee for so long, we have the advantage of an established relationship. Is that enough? We'll find out in a couple of weeks.
Lon Kruger is averaging 26 wins and 8 losses over the past 4 years at UNLV. They've been to the NCAA tourney 3 of the past 4 years and have had one Sweet 16 appearance during that time period. If all other things were equal, I'd give Fox and UGA a fair chance, but the kid has been out West in the LA area all of his life. 270 miles from LA to Vegas is a whole lot different than moving all the way across the country to a relatively small Georgia town. I think Fox is a very good coach and will do a fine job recruiting, but this one is a stretch. Don't think it's going to happen.
