U.S.A.! U.S.A!

The U.S. Under-19 squad won the gold medal, edging Greece 88 to 80. The U.S. hadn't won the tournament title since 1991.

Howard Thompkins had foul trouble during the game and only played 11 minutes. He went 3 of 6 from the field.

For the tournament, Thompkins shot 55 percent from the floor and averaged 5 rebounds.

Fantastic experience for Thompkins. Congratulations to him and to the whole U.S. team.

Thanks for your comments, Mike. I appreciate you following the Blog.

The thought for this season is patience. Coach Fox has a good nucleus to work with, and his addition of Vincent Williams to replace Zac Swansey will probably work out as a wash.

The problem is that everyone else in the SEC East is at least as good as last year (Vandy and UK will be much better). If Coach Fox is a good offensive strategist, then the Dawgs will be okay, but that might still mean ending up 5th or 6th in the Division.
